Management

Paul Hilder

Paul has been working in I.T. since 1984 when, as a Metropolitan Police Officer, he was involved in the introduction of a command and control system. After receiving his Microsoft Certified Engineer certification, he wrote two books, both revolving around the implications of Information Technology in the work place. He has spent much of his career as a consultant whilst at the same time leading a successful computer networking company. In addition to his management role within The Open Source Sofware Company, Paul has also managed to work as a virtual I.T. Director for a leading Law Firm and as a 'Business Change Manager' for a major, Midlands based, Civil Engineering firm. Despite Paul's somewhat hectic workload, he completed a Masters degree in Business Administration, specialising in Supply Chain Mangement, at Cardiff Business School during the period 2006 - 2009.

Helen Hilder

Helen's former career was as a computer programmer for Sainsbury's, in addition to a number of other large corporate companies. The skills acquired during her time as a programmer have been invaluable regarding the administration of the company.

Developers

Indian Development Team

To augment our local development facilities and to provide enhnaced support for our products, in 2009, Open Source entered into an outsourcing arrangement with a leading Indian Software company. Under this arrangement, four of their development team work exclusively on Open Source products, under the direction of our locally based staff. All support enquiries are routed through our local offices to ensure that the quickest and most effective route is taken to resolve any support problems.

Mark

Mark graduated with a degree in Software Engineering in 2004 and has been working with Open Source ever since. His primary skills include web based design (Macromedia and Adobe suite) and development (XHTML, CSS and PHP), domain and web server management, documentation and software training. A strong advocate in web standards and accessibility, Mark strives to create clean, accessible and compliant websites and graphical user interfaces when involved in any client project.

James

James currently holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering and as such is highly capable in a large number of programming languages and IDE's including Java, PHP, C++, C, Netbeans and Eclipse. In addition to these, James is also familiar with the internal workings of database servers such as MySQL and Postgresql. James' particular talents lie in Spring (an open source application framework for the Java platform) and Hibernate (an object-relational mapping solution for the Java language).

Stefan

Stefan obtained a Bsc Hons from Southampton University in 2009. In IT terms he is an all rounder and has contributed to a wide range of the Open Source products. His skills are primarily in web design and image manipulation, though he has authored several Access based applications, including a Tender and Contract registration program.

Dominic

Skilled in multi-media and photography, and currently undertaking a BA in Media Production, Dominic is the junior member of the team. His photography skills have enhanced many of our client's websites.

Support Team

Chris

Chris has a great deal of experience, gained with several large companies, in the design, configuration and build of computers and servers. He spent more than 9 years as a senior on-site engineer with Evesham Micros, before joining Open Source.

Chris's skills have proved invaluable in the building, configuration and subsequent support of our clients' networks. He has been able to deploy his 'ghosting' skills to great effect, enabling Open Source to be able to deploy and fix client computers and servers at a much faster and less costly rate.
