OpenConsult
Lean Consultancy - With a difference
'Lean thinking', hereafter to be termed Lean, is a business management philosophy, generally attributed to the Japanese that was devised in the post war austerity of Japan. It has led to Toyota becoming the most successful automobile company in the world. Lean has now spread across the world and has had a major impact not only in manufacturing, but in the construction, healthcare, retail and just about every other industry that you can think of. Tesco have used Lean to optimise their performance and to place them as the leading retailer in the United Kingdom. Even Insurance firms have used Lean to improve their bottom line.
The aim of our Lean consultancy team, is to make Lean readily accessible to everyone managing, or involved in the management of an SME: regardless of size of company, budget, industry, trade, service or calling. Whilst most of the basic tools of Lean are hidden away under Japanese words, once we get rid of the Japanese, Lean is essentially common sense and can make a drastic difference to any business.
Traditional Lean consultancy firms can assist in introducing Lean and Lean business processes, using Industry standard Lean tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen activities and supply chain initiatives. Our consultants can go one stage further and can assist in matching those processes to Lean Information Technology solutions, and where required, can manage the implementation of those solutions. Our lead consultant, Paul Hilder, is an ably qualified Lean practitioner, with many years of consultancy experience, across a number of industries. Paul is a qualified Microsoft Engineer, has published texts on both Information Technology and Business Law and holds an MBA in Lean Supply Chain Management, which he completed at Cardiff Business School, in 2009. Further, Paul has extensive experience of SME management, having founded and managed several companies, over the last 15 years. Paul is currently researching a further text entitled Making Lean available to SMEs, due to be published in 2010.
For further information regarding OpenConsult, contact Paul or attend our forthcoming event, Lean Thinking for SMEs, at our premises in Cwmbran, on the 26th May 2010.
